A Unique Bed & Breakfast In the Heart of San Antonio's Historic District
The English Room
Most of us will never wrangle an invitation to stay at Kensington Palace, or at one of the royal family's country estates, but we always thought that staying in our English Room got our guests about as close as possible.
We wanted the English Room to be an elegant room, decorated throughout with furniture and accessories in the style of the Victorian and Edwardian periods. It is located on the second floor of the home, with views to the front yard and to the west. (We added full window shutters for nighttime, of course.)
At the other end of the bedroom, there wa a comfortable, overstuffed chair that provided a convenient place to read or relax. This end of the room also contained an English armoire (with the television and DVD player concealed inside). There is also a hanging closet, of course, which is located just inside the room.
The English Room bath is one of the nicest in the home. It features a rectangular, oversized shower that provides not only the standard shower fixtures but three body jets as well.
We liked the English Room so much that when it came time to decide which of our former guest rooms we would use as our own master, it was one of the two rooms that we considered (the other being the Sun Room). We finally decided to combine both of those rooms into one, very large, master retreat.
