The "Four Realists" Show at Art Gallery Prudencia

We were in San Antonio to help celebrate Prudence's birthday at the end of August, and we are back this month to attend a show at her art gallery. It involves our friend Guy and three other artists, so we were happy to come down and help with the event.

Getting to the Ruckman's House in San Antonio

You have probably seen an album page where we visit San Antonio, but in case you haven't, I want to show you the route to San Antonio from Dallas and where Prudence and Ron and Guy are located.

On the left-hand map below, you can see the normal route from Dallas down to San Antonio. Not much explanation is necessary; sometimes we take the bypass around Austin, but most times we don't, and the trip to the San Pedro exit in San Antonio is usually four hours plus.

We head north on San Pedro Avenue a couple of miles and then either hang a left on Ashby and a right on Breeden or just a left on French to get to the Ruckmans' house on the northeast corner of Breeden and French.

In case you have not seen them, I have put below first an aerial view of the Ruckmans' house (it is the house on the corner and the garage/apartment building north of it where Guy lives) and a front view of the house (taken in 2010).

We were just here a month ago to help Prudence celebrate her birthday, but this time it's to attend a show she is holding at her gallery. We brought Cole down again so we could take him out to Nancy's for a playdate with his sister, Grisette. Prudence is very nice to let Cole run around her house (until Jax comes in in the evening), and before we left for the gallery one day, Fred got a nice picture of Cole in the sunroom.

At Art Gallery Prudencia

Since Prudence has opened her art gallery, one of the things I usually do on these trips is to work with her in the gallery on her website or on updating her spreadsheets, and this time we were with her in the gallery the day before her show.

While I was working with Prudence, Fred took his phone and snapped a few pictures of the gallery- including the picture at left of the gallery from the outside. In addition, Fred did something he rarely does- he made a movie as we walked around the gallery. In it, he showed many of the pictures that were part of the Four Realists show. The Four Realists Show

On Friday evening, October 12th, we were back at the gallery for the show, where the four artists involved (here are pictures of Prudence with Joanna Burch, A. Wright Moore, Jr., and Sheila Swanson; for some reason, I neglected to take a picture of Prudence with Guy Blair) were present to meet with the guests and answer questions about their works. It was a neat gathering, and we were able to listen in on all four of the artists as they described their works. Here are some other good pictures from the event this evening:

We enjoyed the show a great deal. Afterwards, the artists and the rest of us decamped to Caparelli's for dinner. We spent another couple of days visiting with Prudence, Ron, Nancy, Karl, and Guy before heading back to Dallas. Yet again, we thank Prudence very much for her hospitality.
