We had a quiet December, but we looked forward to again hosting our close friends for a meal on Christmas Day. This year, it would be a pork loin as the star of the meal, with accompaniments provided by Fred and I as well as our guests. On Christmas morning, I got the roast into the oven and began work on some of the accompanying dishes, but a pork loin is a lot easier than a turkey.
The guest list today duplicated that of Thanksgiving, with the addition of our very good friends Mario and Steve. Here is everyone (with the exception of Fred, who of course was taking the picture):

We try to do the Christmas meal in mid-afternoon, because Steve often has to take a hospital shift on holidays. Today, we ate about 5 because Steve did not have to leave as early as usual. First to arrive were Lou and Lynne. Everyone had arrived by 4 or so, and spent the hour before dinner conversing, catching up, and (still) anxiously discussing the events of November 5th.

To view the slideshow, just click on the image at left and I will open the slideshow in a new window. In the slideshow, you can use the little arrows in the lower corners of each image to move from one to the next, and the index numbers in the upper left of each image will tell you where you are in the series. When you are finished looking at the pictures, just close the popup window.
The meal was really good- and not just because I fixed it. The guests contributed too, with a veggie casserole, wine, and a potato casserole.

This really great Christmas Day with all our close friends was an enjoyable end to this year of pictures. We are very thankful for our friends- who also include Ron and Jay up in Plano. We hope to retain them all for many years to come.
