Pet Pictures 2022
Welcome to the album page for all of the pictures we took of the cats during 2022!
January 27: Tell Me You Got Anchovies
One evening after we got back from Fort Lauderdale, we went and got a pizza for supper. I left it on the counter to go take off my jacket.

When I returned, Cole was up on the counter investigating the new acquisition. I have no doubt he could smell the pepperoni or sausage through the sealed plastic, and watching him nose around the pizza, almost snuggling up to it at one point, was funny enough that I got my phone out and made this movies.
I would have let the movie run a bit longer, just to see whether he would tire of nosing around the pizza, but it seemed that me might actually push it off the counter, so I stepped in and put it in the fridge.
February 3: Togetherness
Our cats all seem to like each other; luckily, that has always been true. Tyger was the most standoffish of all the cats we've had (not counting Bobbie Lee Maxine) but given the right circumstances, he was just as friendly to the other cats we had at the time as any of our cats have been.
It is also usually true that the youngest cat in a group will latch on to one older cat or another, and perhaps feel more comfortable with that cat than the others. If any such bonding has occurred, it is with our oldest cat, Lucky, and our youngest, Cole. As the old man of the bunch, Lucky is pretty chill, but even so, it is rare to find two of our cats snuggled up as closely as Lucky and Cole were this afternoon.
The fact that it was in the 30s outside today might have had an effect.
April 14: The Changing of the Guard?
The top of the cat tower has long been the domain of Zack, and truth be told it continues to be. But on occasion, Cole will climb to the top (if it's vacant) or sometimes event challenge Zack for it. Bob is a much more rare occupant of the cat tower platform but this afternoon that is exactly where I found him.
Bob is still small enough to curl up on top, but Zack and Bob both dangle paws over the side in a post that just screams "ennui".
April 23: My Computer Companion
Another of Zack's favorite spots is right behind my laptop on the front table in the study. There really isn't much room there, but Zack thinks it is just enough. His position is always the same- his tail is dangling over the front of the table near the window and his head is peering around the side of the laptop and the keyboard and me. Sometimes he tries to occupy more of the mouse pad than I can give up, but usually enough moving of the mouse shows him where the boundaries are. Anyway, this afternoon I got a couple of good pictures of him.
April 27: "You Think I did That?"
Our cats aren't dancers, so they never cut a rig, but they certainly like to slide on one- particularly the runners in the hall and in the master bath.
I had been downstairs and heard the typical thundering paws of cats chasing cats, and for once I decided to go upstairs and see what the ruckus was. No cats anyehre, except when I entered the bathroom Bob was looking at me with that Seargeant Schultz "I zee nothink" expression. The evidence that there had recently been a high-speed chase was unmistakeable.
June: A Couple of "Lucky" Pictures
These two pictures were spaced some time apart, but since Lucky is the star of each of them, they are together here:
|
This was a day or two after we came back from our househunting trip to Ecuador, and it seemed as if Lucky was telling Fred (whose bag he is atop) that he didn't want him going anywhere else for a while. |
|
In late June, I happened to catch Lucky lying on his back on the floor, instead of at the back of a chair where he has lots of support. Here, just wedging a hindquarter against the door stabilized him. |
Summer: Some Random Images
Even though we didn't go anywhere during the summer (except for our trip to Mexico in August), there aren't a lot of pet pictures for the period. But we did take a few worth including here:
Late at night, it is my habit to have a soda and a snack, sitting in the chair behind Fred. I am never without Zack wanting to take advantage of my stability to jump up. But on this evening, Cole beat him to it, so while Cole occupied the prime lap space, Zack settled down beside me. (picture at left)
Below, on the same evening, Bob is occupying one of his favorite spots- on the desk right beside Fred under the banker's lamp.

We rarely get pictures that show all four cats at once, but that's only because whe don't usually have our camera phones handy when they get their morning cat food. This picture shows the typical arrangement- Zack, Bob, Cole, and Lucky. This only lasts a minute or two, the time it takes the fastest cat (Bob) to consume his portion.
(Picture at right)
In the study, we see Zack on his perch atop the cat tower, and Cole, in the chair, trying to decide whether to give chase to either Bob or Lucky.

September 29: The Classic Curl
I suppose that when most people think of a sleeping cat, they think of the classic curled-up feline- a round mound of fur and paws and head. It's a classic pose, and none of our cats are the master of it save for Zack. And he displays his proficiency quite often on the desk in the study (a favorite place for all cats, probably because the bankers' lamp gives off heat).
October 13: A Higher Perch
Laying atop the cat tower is one thing; it's only a few feet high. But Cole has taken to a more dramatic perch.
The picture at left was taken from the landing on the front stairs, looking up at the pony wall on the second floor. You ought to be able to find Cole on his own perch- one that none of the other cats, with the rare exception of Zack or Bob, every occupy. I am always afraid he might fall, but he never has and doesn't seem concerned.
December: Miscellaneous Perches
For the last pet pictures of the year, let's have a look at Zack and Cole in various locations around the house.
|
You've seen Zack beside my laptop before, but here he's encroaching more on the mousepad. I actually decided to get up and do something else rather than try to move him. |
|
And what I decided to do was go up to the family room to open and file mail, cleaning off my desk in the process. Cole immediately jumped up to stand right in the middle, and then lay down on the stack of mail I wanted to work on. I then decided it was a good time to take my own nap. |
And two more from everyone's favorite napping spot- on the desk in the study underneath the lamp.
Well, those are our few pet pictures for 2022. You can use the link below to return to the indes for 2022.
