Well, it's August, about five months from the date we returned from Florida, and we have been hardly anywhere. Now, Fred's birthday has rolled around, and in a couple of days it will be Mario's birth that will be celebrated. Of course we are celebrating Fred's at home, but Fred, Mario, Steve, and I have decided to try for some normalcy by masking up and celebrating Mario's birthday at their house in Hurst. We've been careful, and Mario and Steve probably even more so, as Steve works in healthcare, so we think such risk as there might be is minimal.

August 6: Fred's Birthday

For the first time ever (at least when it has occurred while we were both at home in Texas), Fred and I will be celebrating his birthday with just the two of us in attendance. This, of course, is because of Covid-19. So don't look for our usual candid photos of a party, or our standard group photo that we have used in the past to track the passage of time within our circle of friends.

Since there's no gathering, neither Fred nor I dressed for the occasion. Here's Fred with the small cake I got him.

August 8: Mario's Birthday

Mario and Steve felt comfortable enough to have Fred and I out to their house in Hurst to help Mario celebrate his birthday on August 8th.

Mario and Steve actually invited two other people as well, and I took a couple of pictures before the other two got there. Everybody was very conscientious about wearing their masks (except when actually consuming cupcakes), so we were all reasonably safe.

And there, in a paroxysm of brevity, were the August birthdays this year. As for Ron up in Plano, we just called them to wish him well.

Oh, well...maybe next year.
