Rudolf Lowenstein Visits Dallas

 

This year is the year for one of the biennial trips to the United States made by our English friend, Rudolf Lowenstein. He arrived in Dallas, one of the stops on his U.S. tour, on July 26th, and he departed for his next visit in Tulsa on the 30th.


Rudolf's visits are always pleasant, but as they only occur in the summer (and usually when Dallas is quite hot) we tend to spend a lot of time around the house chatting, educating each other on interesting books or Internet memes that we've uncovered or just playing with the cats.

When we are not at the house, we usually make at least one outing to the Dallas Arboretum. Rudolf and Fred share an interest in horticulture, and I think Rudolf enjoys his visits to the gardens, since much of what they display is a lot different from what he would see in England. We made one of those outings this time, and it included Rudolf's first visit to the new Childrens' Garden.

On the Tuesday night of Rudolf's visit, we invited Justin and Gary to come over and have dinner with us. The two had met Rudolf before on one of his visits to Dallas, but they had not seen him in quite some time. We had an enjoyable dinner and visit with them that evening. The other major outing we made with Rudolf was to the new Perot Museum of Natural History in downtown Dallas. We had been there once before, so this would be our second visit. Again, we took lots of pictures in the museum, and so I've given this outing its own page here in the album.
