For my 65th birthday, Fred helped me plan a get-together for Saturday, November 19th. Most of our close friends were able to attend the gathering at my house.
The party followed the pattern of previous birthdays; I chose to fix some dinner entrees, guest contributed side dishes and Fred got a big cake. The biggest departure from that pattern was the fact that my niece from Atlanta happened to be staying with me while she was here visiting friends this week, and so I was pleased that she was able to be at the party and meet again many of my friends who haven't seen her since she moved from Dallas to Atlanta some seven years ago.

We began the evening with drinks and hors d'oeuvres, and Fred acted as photographer. Click on the thumbnails below to see some of his pictures:

Fred made a movie while folks were eating hors d'oeuvres and conversing, and you can watch it with the player below:

When everything was ready, I set up a buffet in the kitchen and everyone helped themselves. Fred took a break from photo duties, and everyone had a chance to sit and have some dinner.

Fred (and I, finally) took some pictures as I was cutting and serving the cake, and as people were enjoying it. You can click on the thumbnails below to see some of these pictures:

I received a few small gifts, which I opened, but most people, as requested, brought cards which it is our ritual to open and pass around.
The birthday party was a great success, I think, and was a very nice one to mark my personal milestone.
