On Saturday, March 9, Lowery hosted his birthday dinner at an Italian restaurant on Lower Greenville. Attending were Lowery and Ron, of course, and Fred and I, along with Barry Skiba and Sherman Carter, Prudence and Lowery's niece Christy and her fiancee Greg, the two of them up from Conroe, Texas, north of Houston. After a nice dinner, we all adjourned to my house for coffee and cake.

The pictures we took this evening were all candid shots taken at my house. These, with their short captions, are below:

Below are Barry and Sherman. They are long-time friends of Lowery. They have done various things over the years, but now they run the massage service that Lowery and Ron patronize over on Oak Lawn Avenue.   Here, from left to right, are Ron Drew, Fred and Lowery; it is certainly nice to see everyone smiling so much. Lowery is often very serious-looking when you take his picture, and the same is usually true of Ron. This time, they look as if they are thoroughly enjoying themselves:

Here are Christy and her fiancee, Greg. I am not sure how long they have been engaged, but I think it has been the better part of a year. I should have found out more about both these young people so I could include that information here:   I've mentioned before the special relationship that Fred and Prudence share. I am fortunate to know as nice a person as Prudence, and, of course, I consider myself incredibly lucky to have made Fred's acquaintance:

It is usually my contribution to get cakes for our various birthdays; Lowery likes the cakes that come from Sam's. Lowery blew out his candle and cut the cake.

Everyone is looking at Chip, who is trying to get early preferred access to the cake. Later, I found he likes the icing but doesn't much care for the cake.

It was a great evening, and we enjoyed meeting Christy and Greg.
