This year, my actual birthday fell on Friday, but it was on Saturday night that Linda Rappin had a few of us over to her apartment for a small birthday party for me.
|
Turning around to face the camera is my friend and travel agent Steve Goldberg; he lives in a studio apartment on the sixth floor. In addition to being a travel agent, he also runs one of his family's currency exchanges a bit west of here. And finally, we have Diane Glickman, who is a buyer for Marshall Field. She has a collection of elephants, and when I happen to be in some unusual place where there's a gift shop, I am always on the lookout for one that is made of something unusual or decorated in an unusual fashion.
This wasn't a party per se, but just a gathering of friends where I was toasted and given a couple of small gifts. Nobody cooked; but Sheila brought in food from the Wendy's down on Wells Street.

I was pleased that my friends thought enough of me to want to get together for my birthday, and we had a good time trying our hand at Pigmania!
